A film by George Fok
Our story begins with the traditional, yet unconventional four-day wedding celebration of Dorrie Block to Eric Ofori Manu. Dorrie is a cheerful soul world traveler from Saskatoon and an NGO staff member for the "Power to Change" organization. Eric is a stoic native Ghanaian who works as a tour guide at the Cape Coast Castle. Their wedding takes place in a remote farming village - Adsani Paso, where Eric was born, 120km north of the city of Cape Coast.
After their wedding in Ghana, Eric’s Canadian visa application was denied. The couple is now separated by two continents while awaiting approval of their spouse sponsorship application.
"Ghanadian Affair" is a feature documentary that depicts an interracial couple, driven by their deep religious convictions and faith, overcoming challenges in regards to geographical separation, cultural differences and other social taboos. An unsung triumphant tale that celebrates our multi-cultural Canadian heritage, and values.
