On February 18, 2017, the Block Museum invited elders who experienced the World War II Japanese American internment camps to share their stories. The event, part of a Chicago-wide Day of Remembrance, marked the 75th anniversary of the executive order that called for the incarceration. Sansei artist Kristine Aono’s installation, 'The Nail That Sticks Up the Farthest…' served as a backdrop for these stories.
