An illustration of bike access around several sections of Greenbelt, MD. Part 2 of 3 (Beltway Plaza to Old Greenbelt, Spellman Overpass, Post Office and Greenway Center, Goddard access road from Old Greenbelt). This is an unedited video created simply to illustrate the routes and access issues. As such, it is rather boring -- please fast forward or jump ahead to view the various sections in less time than it actually takes to ride! Highlights include: Beltway Plaza (0:25); Cherrywood Lane squeeze (1:30); Breezewood (2:20); 201 and Cherrywood, bike land ends, not a good place to turn right (6:30); Ivy Lane (8:10); cut-through path to Crescent Road (10:00); Spellman overpass access from Gardenway (16:20); Hanover Parkway and Eleanor Roosevelt HS area (19:00); Greenbelt Road crossing (20:00); Post Office (20:20); Greenway Center (21:50); Greenway exit non-access (24:50); Goddard Access from Northway (30:45); single-track connector (to Goddard access road (32:30); Greenbelt Center (38:30). Conclusion: Greenbelt has some great recreational cycling nearby in the BARC and surrounding areas, and the city has made an effort to mark some bike lanes and connections, but there is much potential for improvement and the strip shopping areas along Greenbelt Road (route 193) are very poorly planned.
