Midwife Carmen Rubio and a medical trainee demonstrate a manoeuvre to resolve a breech dystocia, head entrapment caused by extended fetal head at the inlet of the pelvis. The whole body of the baby is elevated -- pushed back in to a higher station. This lifts the occiput off the pubic bone and enables the fetal head to flex and re-enter the head in a smaller diameter. Rotation into oblique or transverse is used when necessary.
This manoeuvre is taught in Breech Birth Network training days. For more information: breechbirth.org.uk
