Musagetes Café 2010: Rijeka, Croatia
This is a 30 minute documentary commissioned by Musagetes, a Canadian foundation supporting cities around the world undergoing economic and cultural transitions.
Musagetes believes that "by integrating artistic creativity into modern life we can restore a sense of meaning and shared belonging in contemporary society."
The Musagetes Café gathers local and foreign artists, activists and intellectuals together to explore the role of artistic practise in these urban transitions through creative and artistic interventions.
The Café "encourages collaboration and the free exchange of ideas among social, civic, artistic and cultural leaders and entrepreneurs, leading to a world that is socially more just, environmentally more resilient and aesthetically more beautiful."
This documentary follows the Café as it explores Rijeka's modernist history and future prospects for developing two industrial sites: the former paper mill and home to the annual Hartera Music Festival, and the harbour pier which has recently been opened to the public.
Director's Note: Croatia ROCKS. GO to Rijeka and fall in love with the city like I did
