This Cirque du Soleil show was premiered in Buenos Aires in March 2017 before embarking on an extensive South American tour. Founded in Buenos Aires in 1982, the group Soda Stereo has enjoyed an active career over more than 20 years and has sold more than 17 million albums during this time. Considered a pioneer among Hispanic rock groups, the phenomenon of Soda Stereo's popularity in South America is often compared to U2's popularity in North America. Their association with the legendary Cirque du Soleil promises to be memorable.
El Septimo dia, no descansaré is already being praised in Argentinian and Latin American media and many performances have sold out. The show features a 15-year-old boy with an immense thirst for life. At this key stage in his young life, he discovers a planet inhabited by the musical group Soda Stereo that will transform him forever. The piece's message is at the same time simple, powerful and subtle: music is stronger than death.
The challenge was to create an environment in which the artists and the acrobats are immersed, all the while respecting the essence that is Soda Stereo. To achieve this, Normal opted to create an artistic and creative video inspired by some of the group's most famous video clips. In so doing, video projections highlight and magnify the acrobatic performances that open and close the show.
