For many years, the people of northern Uganda suffered from violent conflicts between rebel groups and government forces. Now, with peace prevailing at long last, communities are focusing on rebuilding. Lifewater's initiative in Ogur and Abako, Uganda, implements innovative strategies to meet the unique challenges of the region. One of these strategies is engaging and empowering war-weary young men through soccer training and tournaments. As they participate in the soccer program, these individuals gradually become WASH promoters and agents of change for healthy behaviors in their communities.
