First video from the Go Figure EP (Acuarela 2011)
Either good music is timeless, or these guys have figured out how to create Beatles-esque and Dylan-ish music without sounding like a tired nostalgia trip. They don't strictly sound like these artists, but with songs built on strong harmony and a stripped down musical approach, those are the two most obvious comparisons. On “Go Figure” the NYC trio plays four hyper-chirpy, contagious, manic songs with upbeat and inventive tunes all in 10 minutes total where they show their love for vocal music, folk, rock and pop you can dance and smile to.
The WoWz slowly began to form in the summer of 2003, when folksinging partners Sam Grossman and Simon Beins first joined forces with forward-thinking rock drummer Johnny Dydo. Since then, they’ve played parks, bars, theaters and subway stations around town, getting laughs and swoons from audiences who could not stop moving to and from their harmony-driven music. Ching Chong Song’s Julie LaMendola, who joined the band in 2009, brought with her an astounding vocal range and zest for performance that made The WoWz complete.
