Telophase is an experimental audio-visual installation named after the final stage of cell division, exploring complexity and organic textures with multiple techniques.
The two videos are comprised of one layer of processed analogue video feedback with an overlay of different generative cellular automata created with the ‘processing’ programming language.
The audio is created from a single random sequence driving several analogue instruments, processed through layers of feedback.
All elements of the installation show ‘emergence’ from a different system, with randomness and feedback driving the process. The aim is to show the similar aesthetics and qualities with each technique producing this phenomenon. Each component has a different timeline, therefore every viewing is different, allowing serendipitous moments of synchronicity to emerge for the viewer.
