here’s a little attempt at demonstrating a few fishing casts seen from the caster’s point of view. they’re off-the-shoulder right curves with and without combined piles of slack line.
the main objective was to curve the line tip and leader to the right around the first ring to say, ‘a rising trout’ then a few of them where about curving around the first ring and placing the fluff in or around the second ring 2.5 m behind. as those who have tried these type of casts know, getting the moves down and making a basic line layout isn’t all that difficult but actually placing a fly in a specific place while including slack and curves in the line/leader system isn’t a piece of cake ! but it’s all very much worthwhile satisfaction-wise when it all comes together and we manage to hook up to that really difficult to cast to fish.
