At his ArtTalk at Christie's on March 9, 2011, artist Richard Phillips gave an engaging overview of his work, beginning with the genesis of so much of it—his spotting stacks of discarded fashion magazines on the sidewalk. He talked about how he “repurposes” images and stressed, among other things, his interest in the role of art, and painting in particular, in our culture.
