Traversed is a short documentary film that explores the past, present, and unfolding future of Armenia, through the memories, dreams, and observations of its people.
When we set out to make this film, we wanted to capture a portrait of a country and its people at a moment in time. But we soon realized that Armenia is a country caught between times; between it's ancient history, and a legacy of living under empires (from the Persian to the Ottoman to the Soviet) and the modernization and globalization that are quickly taking hold. We travelled the country end to end, capturing images that we found beautiful and moving and symbolic -- vast primordial landscapes, ancient churches, rural villages, industrial factories left over from the Soviet era, and modern cities that are growing and changing by the minute. In each place we talked to locals about their memories from the land, their thoughts on their home, and their hopes for its future. Traversed weaves all of these narratives, crisscrossing time and place, into one beautiful film -- we hope you enjoy it.
