Hooray for Hollywood ©2008-2011 by Raven Kaliana began as a play, and has since been adapted into a short film. The piece concerns the issue of human trafficking, following the true story of two children trying to escape.
Raven Kaliana wrote, directed, and produced the play, and co-produced the film. A professional puppet maker, Raven created the puppets and constructed the sets. The cast consisted of 5 actor-puppeteers who performed the child puppets along with a violinist playing live. The violinists were Alison Blunt in 2009 and Susanna Ferrar 2010-11. The play has been performed in Poland, the UK, and France, and the film has been presented in a variety of human rights and educational contexts... United Nations Geneva 'UN Universal Children's Day' event, United Nations New York 'Commission on the Status of Women' event, London City Hall, Oxford University, New York University. It has been used in training events for charities and university programmes, such as Barnardo's, Childline, Relate, NOTA, various UK Child Safeguarding teams, University of Puerto Rico, Kingston University, and Roehampton.
