Finally nailed down the source of my issues with the motor. Seems the pump is over-running the fuel pressure regulator.
Spec: 12.8 to 20psi while idling.
Meas: 25 psi while idling.
Injector delivering more fuel, and the ECU can not compensate for it.
As well there is an aside showing how the air-cleaner was modified to allow it to slip under the strut tower bar.
