Playground (Festival Version)
Playground is a collaborative piece between one musician & two visual artists. The concept is based on the exciting thought process shared by children about their education.
First, the sound design was composed by Dr. Charles Nichols, a Composition and Music Technology professor at the University of Montana. Next, the visuals were created by two graduate media arts students, Amber Bushnell and Charles Raffety, both from the University of Montana. They were inspired by the audio's layered and textured qualities, along with its abstracted evolution of words spoken by children. Adobe After Effects was used to create a dynamic reaction to the sound design, with a goal of creating an organic look and feel.
This version has been featured in the Montana State University Sunday Night Multimedia Series in Bozeman, Montana and included in concert programming at the 26th Annual SEAMUS Conference in Miami, Florida.
