In this session, Aaron Powers of iRobot will provide an overview of human-robot interaction, focusing on the future of robotics and the field’s developing issues as we enter into an age where we are start building humanoid robots. Aaron will also explore the topic of teleoperated robots and the usability challenges involved when a user directly controls a robot, such as the iRobot PackBot (military use) or iRobot ConnectR (for the home). He’ll also talk about autonomous robots, specifically the Roomba, and will share some results from recent studies of the Roomba and cleaning in the home.
