Over three years of war in Ukraine, more than 1,000 people have gone missing. Every missing person is a tragedy for his or her family. The government is often helpless in finding missing persons on territories not under its control. After several failed attempts to find the loved ones people tend to psychologically break, lose faith, shut off and be afraid to touch the problem with anyone around.
With its vast experience in dealing with such problems in many world conflicts, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has engaged itself into helping families of the missing ones through a hotline.
Since the ICRC never operated in Ukraine before, our agency has been hired with a communication objective to let people know about the existing hotline while conveying to the target audience the idea that the ICRC understands the people suffering and is here to help.
The target audience has been persuaded by the message. The ICRC has registered over 200 requests from the families of missed persons and has 10 successful search cases so far.
