The Cherry Street Historic District serves as the downtown of Helena, Arkansas and is a
historic locality, commercial, and entertainment district. The history of the Street is linked to the blues
heritage of the region starting in the 1940s. The Cherry Street Fair brings local artists and merchants together to provide a monthly community event on the Street in Helena-West Helena. Every second Saturday from April through September, Delta-related artists, musicians, and vendors line a block of the Street, providing increased downtown participation and residential engagement. Cherry Street has played host since 1986 to the King Biscuit Blues Festival. Part of the Street is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
