In the context of the masterclass 'Luc Deleu-T.O.P. Office: Orban Space', which took place at Stroom Den Haag from 21 to 25 March 2011, I made this visual essay on the work of the Belgian architect, urbanist and artist Luc Deleu.
The film consists of a compilation of citations from three texts: 'Non-Places. Introduction to an Anthropology of Supermodernity' (1992) by French anthropologist Marc Augé, 'Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture' (1966) by American architect Robert Venturi, and 'The Wrong Place' (2000) by American art historian Miwon Kwon. By juxtaposing these texts with documentation of Deleu's work, the film aspires to shed light on three domains of his work: mobility and infrastructure, urban planning, and sculpture.
