This is a presentation on the Guafo Island Research Group and the critical importance of preserving this unique research site. Guafo Island is a remote island in Northern Chilean Patagonia which is home to the largest fur seal rookery in the pacific. Guafo Island provides an amazing opportunity to study this fur seal population in their natural environment with minimal disturbance from human disruption. Currently the island is for sale and we hope that this site will be preserved as a marine protected area before it succumbs to human economic exploitation.
