I'm trying to make or prototype a game each month in 2011. This is a prototype of a game (code name: SPELL-UNKY) in which you use the mouse to clear words, boggle-style, in order to clear the way for a little jumpy platformer guy (controlled with WASD) to delve deeper and deeper into a randomly generated well of letters. The screen is constantly creeping upwards, and the game is over whenever the player gets squished at the top of the screen. Each word is scored according to its length and how many difficult letters it contains; depth is measured in alphabets (i.e., 26 tiles deep = 1 alphabet).
The game is functional and almost fun as-is, but I'm planning on adding items to spice things up a bit (e.g., bonus tiles that clear an entire row or column).
