Leon McCarron is a Northern Irish adventurer, filmmaker, writer and motivational speaker. His expeditions include trekking 3000 miles across China (filmed for the Nat Geo series Walking Home From Mongolia), riding a bicycle 14,000 miles from New York to Hong Kong and walking 1000 miles through the Middle East. Other adventures include a 1000 mile journey across the Empty Quarter desert with fellow adventurer Alastair Humphreys (their feature-length film Into The Empty Quarter was a finalist at the Banff Mountain Film Festival) and an expedition on horseback through Patagonia with filmmaker Tom Allen. In 2017, Leon was announced as the latest recipient of the RGS's prestigious Neville Shulman Challenge Award. His latest book The Land Beyond has recently been shortlisted for the Adventure Travel Book of the Year Award and in April 2018 he embarked on a major publicity tour of the US.
