In 2016, the Britt Music & Arts Festival brought over 130 musicians to the rim of Crater Lake in southern Oregon to perform the world premiere of a bold new work— “Natural History” composed by Michael Gordon. Britt Orchestra Music Director Teddy Abrams led this visionary project in honor of the centennial of American’s national park system at Oregon’s Crater Lake National Park. Gordon’s powerful, organic music celebrates the park’s natural wonders and the communities that surround it through the combined forces of the Britt Orchestra, drummers from the local Klamath tribe, and regional vocal, brass, and percussion ensembles. The documentary film is inspired by this unique musical endeavor, and the historic convergence of nature, human beings, and art at Crater Lake. A coproduction of Owsley Brown Presents (OBP) and Britt Music & Arts Festival. Presenting Station: Southern Oregon Public Television.
