This is a VFX breakdown for the sci-fi short film "HOME". Be sure and watch the film FIRST though as there are spoilers in the video...

"HOME" was directed & edited by BLAKE CALHOUN. Most of the VFX work was done by CLIFF RICHHART.
Some additional shots were done by David Maddox and also Blake.
The film was shot on a Blackmagic Cinema Camera in 2.5K Raw using Tokina Cine lenses (using Hollywood Black Magic filters). The Log footage in this video was output from the raw Cinema DNG files in Davinci Resolve (and that's also where we did the final color grade).
The VFX shots were done in Adobe After Effects using many built-in plugins along with 3rd party ones like Trapcode Shine and Particular. Video Copilot Optical Flares was also used. Additionally we used Lens Distortions Luminary and Light Hits packs.
Note too: A lot of the VFX shots in the film are "invisible", meaning you probably wouldn't know they exist if not seeing them here. In our opinion these are some of the more interesting shots to do.
Thanks for watching!
