A short introduction to complete this movie about the principal character (Wayan) and the Balinese concept of Tri Hita Karana:
Wayan became a friend. He is the wise surfer. Anyway, in Bali most of the people are wise. Because they share a deep, wrapping and smooth concept: the Tri Hita Karana. The pace of life is based on the daily temple offerings and monthly ceremonies which bring the people together and build a strong community life. The Tri Hita Karana have three basic principles : to feel happy, we should live in harmony with Nature, Humans and Spirits (or call it the Life Energy, the Ki, the Chi or the Qi, the Soul ... up to you and your own culture).
To compare with our Western lives, for Nature we have city parks, National parks and also intensive farmings to fill our supermarkets and our stomachs… Indeed we have human relationship. Even if Facebook is an option but not the real solution I will say. And thirdly, regarding our relation with the admirable energy of Life - which seems to be behind the miracle of having a tree or a baby growing in 9 months from a little seed in a friendly environment - switch on the TV and you will get the answer! It’s all bout entertaining ourself to become subordinate to additional needs and making more money. No program will show you the immaterial power of Life however a peaceful mind and a healthy body is what we are all looking for isn’t it ? As everybody knows, wealth does not lead to sustainable happiness …
Each of us is able to say that something is missing in our full of entertainment and comfortable lives: instead of stress, a feeling of inner peace. Fortunately, the Balinese people are there on Earth, in the Twenty-first century to prove that they can use the last updated innovations but also maintain some fondamental community habits that the technology will never provide.
And day by day, they build this connexion with this reality : “I am full of the Life Energy, I am a part of the Universe and I am surrounded by people made with this the same pattern as me. And I believe that this fundamental feeling of inner-peace is the one that everyone is looking for. Tri Hita Karana is one of the path to accomplish this desire of mindfulness.
