David W. Allan has authored over 100 papers in the field of precise time and frequency. He and his colleagues developed "The Allan Variance," which is at the heart of international time-keeping algorithms.
David W. Allan was born in Mapleton, Utah on September 25, 1936. He received a B.S. degree in physics from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, in 1960, and an M.S. degree in physics from the University of Colorado in 1965. As a praying man, Brother Allan also acknowledges spiritual inspiration in his every-day life, and the love of Heavenly Parents for all of the Human Family in very personal ways.
