This JOS Production video is sponsored by City Living Local Life in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (Pembridge Ward) in London.
City Living Local Life supports volunteers in making their local areas better places to live, and this film aims to illustrate and encourage volunteering by telling the story of Katie's recent experience upon arriving, via the local Volunteer Centre, at one of JOS’s weekly inclusive music workshops.
This short piece is a little gem that captures the essence of JOS’s unique work and its capacity as a catalyst for generating an authentic inclusive society. It came together thanks to the brilliant work of film maker Julian Langham, and the generous and open spirits of JOS's team of volunteers and the participants at the JOS Portobello Road workshops.
Singer songwriter Katie was inspired by her experience at JOS workshops to write this song which has now been recorded, and is to be featured in another video by Julian Langham due out soon. Please keep your eyes on JOS’s website and Facebook for updates.
Joyofsound is a small but vital and spirited volunteer led organisation where people of all abilities can work together creatively as equals and be acknowledged and respected for beautiful shared outcomes that enhance and inspire everyone involved. JOS produces a sustained flow of creative inclusive community engagements and original works that include the design of bespoke music instruments and access solutions for disabled and impaired people that even the largest and most generously resourced organisations would be proud to claim.
