What’s one way that we as followers of Jesus can join in God’s Kingdom work? Prayer! Most kingdoms, historically speaking, have been expanded through violence. The Kingdom of God was indeed inaugurated through violence, namely the violent death of Jesus Christ in the place of sinners. However, rather than taking up arms to spread the glorious name of Jesus Christ, we take up our cross. We follow the example of Jesus, one of prayer and proclamation! We join in His mission by proclaiming and praying! Let’s take a moment to simply highlight prayer and its Kingdom-significance! As Jesus embarked upon His Kingly mission, facing trials and opposition, He would often go to the Father for extended times of prayer! In fact, Jesus taught His disciples to pray in relation to God’s Kingdom. In Matthew 6:10 He taught His disciples to pray to the Father, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” May we, as God’s Kingdom people, be committed to praying for God’s Kingdom work in Marysville! Let’s pray for the gospel to go forward boldly from His people here at MCC and for opportunities to take part in other Kingdom work in our community that would resonate with gospel significance! Pray for God’s redemptive work to take root in our city and for evil, hurt and pain to be uprooted as we serve and minister to the lost and hurting in the name of Jesus! Pray and proclaim!
