Olivia Hallisey received the Grand Prize at the 2015 International Google Science Fair for the development of a novel diagnostic Ebola test, the Ebola Assay Card (EAC). Existing diagnostic protocols were expensive, complicated, time consuming, and temperature dependent. The EAC is inexpensive, rapid, and visual–indicating results through a color change, eliminating language barriers, and increasing ease of use. Her wonder and curiosity is unleashing potential groundbreaking discoveries for Lyme disease, celiac, Zika and certain cancers.
