The initial fact finding or "discovery" phase of a website redesign sets the foundation for the rest of your activities, so don't cut it short. This webinar looks at the University of Miami Libraries' recent discovery process in the context of their overall website redesign plan. In this webinar for ASERL, Andrew Darby and Patricia Villanueva discuss their pre-redesign planning (including team composition and pitching the project to administration); the four stages of redesign process; the activities undertaken during the Discovery phase (including audits, UX research, special topic research, and heuristic review); the results and communication strategy; and how they will incorporate these results in subsequent design phases. The presenters also discuss what went well and what might be improved.
