CHI Factory play LA ANTENA
Friday 11 November | La Notte - Nacht van de andere film | KINO Rotterdam
CineSonic joins a line-up of some of the coolest Dutch film festivals for the first edition of ‘La Notte - Nacht van de andere film’ at KINO Rotterdam. We gladly participate to the first instalment of this multifaceted festival with a new film concert: the legendary Dutch electronic ambient band CHI Factory (formerly CHI), Hanyo van Oosterom, Jacobus Derwort & Michel Banabila, will perform their new score for the Argentinian modern classic LA ANTENA.

LA ANTENA is an award-winning retro-futuristic thriller. With gorgeous visuals and set design, this highly stylized cinematic gem draws on film noir and German Expressionism to create a vivid blend of fairy tale and political allegory.
"Visually beautiful, mentally stimulating, and thoroughly haunting" ★★★★ Eye for Film

Jacobus Derwort - flute & clarinet
Michel Banabila - keys, FX, vocoder & vocal
Dutch ambient collective CHI was formed by Jacobus Derwort and Hanyo van Oosterom in the early 80s. Their original sound was the result of field recordings and mysterious meditation sessions in the caves around of mystical rock “The Kallikatsou” on the island of Patmos, Greece. Joined by Willem Cramer and Michel Banabila, CHI released their first legendary ambient cassette 'The Original Recordings' in 1986. The tape became almost immediately a sought-after collector’s item but just a year later, in 1987, the band ceases to exist. Nearly 30 years later, in February 2016, the British label Astral Industries re-released ‘The Original Recordings’. The album was welcomed by great critical response and the great reception prompted a reunion of the band under a new name, CHI Factory. 33 years after their formation, one of the most legendary Dutch ambient electronic bands are back!
