The Open Estonia Foundation held the discussion series this time with cooperation with the annual Lennart Meri Conference.
Mr Alexey Levinson, Head of Socio-Cultural Research at the Levada Centre, presented the latest results of the public opinion polls conducted by Levada Centre. These polls reflect Russians’ attitudes towards foreign countries and Russia’s global engagements, as well as their overall satisfaction with life in the country. Mr Levinson's presentation was followed by a discussion including Ms Anna Arutunyan, a Russian-American journalist and author, about the possible links between the opinion polls and the latest anti-corruption street protests in different cities and regions in Russia. Could protests like these have been predicted from public opinion polls? What impact do these protests have on Russian politics? The discussion was moderated by journalist and public figure Mr Artemy Troitsky.
