Wellness programs are popping up everywhere in Corporate America. To stem the ever-rising cost of health care, more and more companies are throwing points-based systems, incentives, and discounted weight, tobacco cessation, and fitness programs at their employees. Meanwhile, dubious employees aren’t snapping up these benefits. And employers are miffed. Should they be? Or is the problem housed in the current piecemeal approach to wellness?

Fran Melmed from context and Aaron Sklar at IDEO explored and debated a more expansive approach to employee wellness, one where the workplace becomes a driver of health for the emotional, physical, and financial benefit of both the organization and the individual.
