A short dance piece with Denver artist and activist Michaela Mujica-Steiner.
Here are a few words from her on the piece:
"As someone who has struggled with mental illness and been called 'mad,' part of my liberation has been reclaiming the word 'mad' and 'crazy,' realizing that this society is indeed the mad one and we need an entire paradigm shift from this destructive culture of greed and disposal.
This dance represents the experience of feeling lost in a society that teaches backward values, that teaches us to run around in an endless game of capitalism. We are taught to wear masks to hide the pain we feel inside, to smile even when we are miserable. Reclaiming my authentic self is part of my stake."
