Reality Bomb is one of the first games of its kind to fuse the real and virtual worlds in a gripping multiplayer mobile game. The real world can be scanned in with a Microsoft Kinect and used as in-game maps.
One player starts with a bomb and their time begins to drain. They must pass the bomb to another player or risk exploding when their time runs out. Last player standing is crowned the winner 👑
Players can use an assortment of powerups to outmanoeuvre others while real world obstacles can obscure opponents' views, providing useful hiding spots.
While AR (augmented reality) has become increasingly popular in the past couple of years, Reality Bomb is the first to showcase it in a real, playable game. Players end up immersed, due to stable 3D tracking, and maps that can be updated in seconds due to custom meshing algorithms and network transferal.
To make Reality Bomb possible, we brought together Unity, Microsoft Kinect and ARToolKit to provide the smooth AR experience.
