Community Music Center of San Francisco Presents: A Scene from Agrippina. On hearing the news that her husband, the Emperor Claudius, has died in a storm at sea, Agrippina plots to secure the throne for Nero, her son by a previous marriage. She obtains the support of her two freedmen, Pallas and Narcissus, without either being aware of the other. To each of them she then confides the news of Claudius's death, and asks, in exchange for her love, that they set off for the Capitol to hail Nero as his successor. Nero is unenthusiastic about this project, but assents to his mother's wishes.
