The Poem:
Seven Jungles of Bells
In the first jungle the bells are made of silences
The bells of this jungle have much to tell and keep it to themselves
In the second jungle the bells are entangled photons
When we listen to one and hear "ding" we know that another one
a trillion miles away sounded "dong" at the very same moment
In the third jungle the bells are made of gold
When the sun is shining we marvel at the brightness overhead
and hear the tuneless clink of soft metal
In the fourth jungle the bells are whales who
have learned to sing in the air as they
swing back and forth with joy
In the fifth jungle the bells are made of sleep
They ring with dream and rest and nightmare
We smile to hear rest above the din of nightmare and dream
In the sixth jungle the bells are stars -
red giants, white suns, supernovas, neutron stars and black holes
They ring out electromagnetic pulses and ripples in space-time
In the seventh jungle the bells are made of the silences within silence
The bells of this jungle have told all and have nothing more to say
