This sermon was presented on 4/9/11 at 11 AM during divine service.
Joseph said, ‘how can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?’ (Gen 39:9). All acts of sin is directly against God even though it may be directed to a fellow man. Righteousness and judgment are the habitation or the foundation of Gods throne (Psalm 97:2). Throne represents the entire kingdom; Gods throne includes the entire universe. Righteousness is expressed in God’s law. The kingdom of God stands on the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments expresses the life of Christ. When a converted man looks at the Ten Commandments, he sees a righteous life. When Adam and Eve broke the commandment of God in Garden of Eden, the ground was cursed (Gen 3:17). Thorns and thistles developed in the plants after sin. The animals, which roam above the ground, had a change in their behavior because of sin, they become fearful of man, rather than be a friend as it was before sin (9:2). Next level is people on the ground. Eve was cursed with a painful childbirth after sin (Gen 3:16). Adam and Eve hid from God in the Garden of Eden after sin, a deterioration in their behavior. Paul says law is weak through the flesh (Rom 8:3). There is nothing weak about God’s law. Bible says law is spiritual, law is holy, the law is just, the law is good, the law is truth, the law is righteousness, and the law is just. The law is weak in the flesh because there is nothing in the flesh that desires to obey God’s law. Sin puts us out of harmony with the entire universe. Flesh is insulation against the power of the law. To show that the problem is not with the law but flesh, God sent His own son in flesh, and he lived a life in conformity with Gods law, by total dependence on His Father. Jesus made his life available to us, we can have it by total dependence to Jesus. The entire universe, moves at one beat, one rhythm that is righteousness. When we live in sin, we are out of step, out of rhythm, missing the beat of the universe and the gospel brings us back into harmony with God.
