The biggest, boldest, most over-the-top offering from HJ Media Studios, Part Time Superhero is a short film that has it all: Action. Romance. Show-stopping musical numbers.
Part Time Superhero follows the machinations of the viciously evil Dr. Laser and his plot to destroy the American Midwest through forced dance routines. The only forces opposing him is an (unlicensed) superhero temp agency. Led by "Bear Man," (he prefers the more intimidating "Ursa Major"), a dubiously powerful gentleman whose sole ability is the capacity to transform into a six-inch high teddy bear., the temp agency's members attempt to combat evil on a cramped schedule. The only two other members of the agency are "Replicating Man," whose power is to duplicate himself millions of times over, and the "Dude in the Suit," a brilliant but mostly drunk inventor who's constructed a nearly invincible power suit out of duct tape, PVC pipe, and more weapons than he has permits for.
With a cast who haven't completed film school (or even secondary education), a first-time director, and special effects rendered on a six-year-old low-end computer, Part Time Superhero is nevertheless a cheerfully entertaining middle finger to taste, decency, and film conventions of all sorts.
