Our Maker Art class created a Time Machine at the Lycée Français in Sausalito in winter 2017. Here's how we did it.
In this weekly after-school class, our 4th and 5th graders designed and animated their own scenes from the age of dinosaurs to the 50th century, led by teachers Fabrice Florin and Edward Janne.
Our Maker Art classes combine art, tech and storytelling to build magical worlds like a City of the Future, a Haunted House or a Time Machine. We show kids how to create their own ‘wonderbox’ with animated characters, lights, sounds and motion.
This hands-on, project-based activity invites students to learn by doing, in a playful way that engages all their senses, develops their creative, technical and collaboration skills -- and builds their confidence that they can change the world.
This is what school should be like: project-based, hands-on, student-driven and collaborative.
