My first ever proper, no holds barred, points paying race in full size cars at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, California.
This is a bit of a treat for your guys. Juan Pineda, a fellow racer, lent me a Contour HD to film my races when my GoPro bit the dust. I'm happy with the Contour's performance and I may get one to film the rest of my races.
I qualified 7th in class (SSM), 20th overall after misjudging how long my "race" set of Toyo tires would take to come in. They didn't and my lap times were 2 seconds slower than they should have been. My fastest lap of the weekend was a 2:09.2, on the faster, worn in set.
Iffy qualifying position notwithstanding, I held my position on the start and followed my team mate, David Allen in the silver 84 car for a number of laps. I ended up finishing 5th in class and 16th overall! (47 cars started the race)
Unfortunately the camera's battery died right before I was set to go out for race #2, so I won't be able to show that to you. But this one is more exciting anyway. I started and finished P5 in class in race #2.
Thanks all volunteers for your dedication! You make this all possible!
