After three months spent in Tahiti, I arrived at 7H AM in Hawaii, and was so happy to see all my friends from Volcom, Angelo Bonomelli from Italy, Marcelino Botin from Spain, and William Aliotti, Andy Crière, Didier Piter from France.
I stayed my entire trip at the Volcom house front of Pipeline, sleeping downstairs while pros were sleeping upstairs with the view on Pipeline.
At the beginning the atmosphere was relax because the waves were 2 foot high. But the swell came with some big tension
The one who catches the bomb would be the Sheriff. But no Sheriff stars for us!
My new Arakawa boards were not ready, and I had to borrow one from Didier, I broke it on my second wave!!!! Sorry Didier!
Marcelino did the same after a terrific wipe out .
“Welcome to Hawaii" said Didier…
3 days after, that was the mess at the house. We were sharing a little session at Rockie Point, when Tai Van Dyke, the team house keeper, phoned Didier to come back as soon as possible at the house… Tai was really pissed off (and trust you don’t want to see him like that!!!), and told us that he never saw a mess like that in the house!
We cleaned the house without a word!
The second Swell arrived! 2 sessions but nobody took the BOMB.
Finally everybody got his moments: William the air, Andy the barrel, Marce the girl and Angelo the pasta and me…. I got a magic session back to Tahiti alone at the pic!!!!!!!
I understood that the only solution to surf Pipeline in peace is to participate at the Volcom Pipeline Pro!
See you next month in Australia!
