Art Squared has got it all. Hosted by the Stevens Square Community Organization, it’s an art sale and raffle, music show, booze and schmooze, and fundraiser rolled into one great event from 7pm- 11pm at the Stevens Square Center for the Arts. Tickets for this event are $6 at the door or $5 (plus one free
raffle ticket!) when purchased in advance at The Boiler Room.
The event features art for sale donated by over 30 established as well as emerging local artists including Greg Gossel, JM Culver, and Matt Wells and Eric Mattheis, both founding members of the Rogue Citizen collective, who will also be collaborating on a live painting during the event. Art Squared also features performances by local bands The Chord and the Fawn, The Absent Arch, and Kicks and Spurs, will be catered by nationally renowned Minneapolis restaurant Barrio, and will serve beverages donated by Surly and Haskell’s.
Don’t forget to try your luck at the raffle for a chance to win art projects from local professional artists, including a
zombie-style portrait of you or your loved one from illustrator Matt Wells, custom business cards created by graphic designer Kyle Coughlin, or live photos of your band by photographer Sarah Jordet. Other raffle items include donations by businesses, such as some delicious locally roasted coffee from the Boiler Room and two seats in a cooking class of your choice at Whole Foods.
Whether you buy a piece of art, dance awkwardly to one of the bands, or hover around the food and drinks, you will have a good time. Proceeds from this second annual Art Squared support Steven Square Park’s summer arts
staples The Red Hot Art Festival and Cinema & Civics. Along with bolstering arts programming, the event showcases Twin Cities artistic talent and encourages local commerce and participation.
