Monday afternoon a group of friends set out from the Long Island City Art Community led by Karen Dimit, artist and LICAO Co-Chair. We met Eric Benaim of Modern Spaces who was gracious enough to take us on a tour.

Eric took us on a whirlwind tour of condos that might be suitable for group shows during the LIC Arts Open fest. It was remarkable to view spaces I had only seen from the outside. It was the first very bright and warm spring day in New York, and it was very enjoyable to walk and converse with fellow artists. Later we met Ed, the owner of a very well organized and highly recommended frame shop-- Fine Art Frameworks.
One of the interesting things that happens in festivals like this one is the collaboration between businesses and artists.

LIC Arts Open is the first festival of it's kind in Long Island City. And as a filmmaker who has grown up in Queens, I can attest that it's the first of it's kind in Queens.
It will be a week-long celebration of Art, Music, Dance, Film and Performance with open studios and events going on all over LIC.

Because the LIC Arts Open is a Festival based on physical locations and their interconnectedness, I’ve begun to experiment with geo tagging this project. Because you still can’t geotag videos on vimeo, I’ve included the Google street view locations featured in this quick video. Also check the Flicker stills for Geo locations.

The following are the locations in the video Geo tagged from Google maps
