The Future of Leadership Forum: Interview with Mpho Maseko (MarComms Head: Digital Strategy Enablement ABSA)
Mpho Maseko has more than 10 years’ experience in the Integrated Marketing Communications field with experience in both the public and private sectors.
Mpho’s career began in Public Relations as an intern for a Sandton based PR firm. She then moved on to cut her teeth in the advertising industry, starting as an account executive and then being promoted to strategic planner at Inroads.
Events management and media planning were the core skills that Mpho developed when she joined the Gauteng Provincial Legislature as the Public Relations Officer.
She honed in her management expertise after graduating in a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Wits Business School.
She joined the SABC in 2005 where she has held several management positions within marketing & communications. Her responsibilities in these roles extended to the strategic communications management for various SABC brands.
In November 2011 Mpho was appointment as Senior Manager: Brand Marketing. One of her major contributions in her current role include consolidating the marketing function to fit into the SABC’s three year business plans and position brand SABC favorably by improving its brand reputation.
In 2014 she was appointed committee member for the Advertising and Media Association of South Africa (AMASA) a committee that she still currently serves on. She is responsible for the Communication and hosting of monthly thought leadership forums for media professionals who are members of AMASA.
Mpho has recently been appointed to serve as Head of the Brand Council of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), she is also member of the inaugural Marketing Awards Council.
