Background on the evaluation:
In early 2017, Scarf began a program evaluation, led by Louise Greenstock, to measure our social impact and help us communicate program outcomes.
Louise interviewed many people involved in different areas of Scarf, including: graduate trainees, mentors, sponsors, restaurant partners and Scarf staff. She also looked at existing data such as trainees' program evaluations, mentor testimonials, numerical data and media coverage.
The evaluation has given us a much clearer idea of Scarf's impact and the many ways the program has affected our trainees' lives. We also have a better understanding of some of our limitations particularly in relation to post-program support. Some really great recommendations have come out of the process so far, and we'll continue to adapt our processes and utilise the amazing support we get from the hospitality industry and the broader community, so that every Scarf trainee gains a meaningful outcome.
