STU PLUS WHO? SYNOPSIS
STU always had a dream... to become a filmmaker. When he was in college, back in 1999, he directed his thesis project, entitled 'Bobby Loves Mangos.' Although STU didn't get in, he took it to the Sundance Film Festival, hoping to create some buzz and maybe capture the attention of someone in 'the biz.' One afternoon, he spotted none other than Roger Ebert, and pleaded with him to watch his film. Mr. Ebert politely shrugged him off, telling Stu he simply couldn't watch every film presented to him, and walked away, leaving Stu with his tail between his legs. That night, however, opportunity would again present itself.
At the Yarrow Cafe, STU once again spotted Roger Ebert, and begged the manager of the cafe to show his film, imploring, 'It's my career!' The manger conceded, and in front of a packed house, STU took the loudspeaker. 'Mr. Ebert,' he beseeched 'Please don't leave... I brought my film to you.' A surprised audience and a very surprised Roger Ebert watched, and to STU's delight, by the end of the film, he received a standing ovation.
The next week, on the national broadcast of the 'Siskel & Ebert' show, Mr. Ebert concluded by not only lauding the story of a persistent kid who tracked him down and made him watch his film, he also pronounced Stu's film with the highly revered 'thumb's up.'
It looked like STU's career was destined to take off. He got an agent and made some successful shorts, music videos, and commercials. But his dream of making a movie remained only that... caught in a seemingly never-ending web of trying to raise finances, for years Stu had to make a living as an editor. As years passed, the light started to dim, but STU never gave up, and opportunity would once again present itself.
Ten years after the success of Sundance. STU, in an effort to raise financing for a website he created to raise money for his film, went on a game show, and amazingly, he won! The grand prize was a five day trip for two to Jamaica. But there was a problem. All the time and energy required to pursue his dream of filmmaking over the years left STU with no girlfriend. So the question became, who was Stu going to take?
Over Chinese food one evening with his best friend Goldfarb, the light bulb finally went off. Finding the 'right' girl to take to Jamaica would be STU's first movie. This was the chance he was looking for... not only for an affordable way to make a movie, but also the chance to go on dates and meet some girls.
But the lengths these guys go to meet the 'perfect girl' is astounding. Year prior, Goldfarb won an Emmy award for editing... and as the twosome were on their quest, the Emmy awards were coming up once again. 'What a perfect way to get some celebrities in our movie!' So, they used LAST YEAR's EMMY to get into THIS YEAR's show. And Boom! Red carpets, and schmancy parties STU met many prospects, including Rosario Dawson, Katherine Heigl.
What started as a simple premise ultimately became something much deeper and rewarding. 'Stu + Who' is a story of hope, dreams, and laughter, and romance.
