The picturesque 5 mile walk commenced from the Cat I’th Well Inn at Wainstalls Halifax to the Castle Carr estate which is only open to the public once a year. Gravity fed, the force of the water is so powerful that the fountain can reach heights of over 100ft, second only to the fountain at Chatsworth in Derbyshire.
The walk was arranged by The Rotary Club of Halifax in conjunction with the owner of Castle Carr Estate and Yorkshire Water. Very well attended by hundreds of people, families, children and pets. All proceeds from the ticket sales go to local charities.
