Perinatal is a audiovisual performance focus on the perinatal level of the psyche. When our process of deep experiential self-exploration moves beyond the level of memories from childhood and infancy and reaches back to birth, we start encountering emotions and physical sensations of extreme intensity, often surpassing anything we previously considered humanly possible.
The performance explores the audiovisual engagement between the four main phases of the "in utero" experience: the Perinatal Matrices
This work is inspired in the research of Stanislav Grof through holotropic states of consciousness (holotropic breathing). In holotropic states, consciousness is changed qualitatively in a very profound and fundamental way, but it is not grossly impaired like in organic psychoses or trivial deliria.
