Rider (TTR*** competition) from a total of 12 nations reached deep into their bag of tricks in order to shine in the Slopestyle and Halfpipe contests during the 8th Volvo X OVER RIDE. But at the end of an action-filled weekend on Kitzsteinhorn Mountain (March 25th to 27th, 2011), only one of them could take home the title of “Ruler of the Hill” for the overall victory in both contests. German freeskier Florian Geyer impressed the spectators as well as the jury with the most spectacular and stylish jumps. Numerous non-cash prizes as well as 7,200 Euros in total prize money were divided amongst the top ranked competitors. Thanks to sunshine and exciting competitions, the atmosphere was great – not only on the mountain, but also during the legendary after-contest party. At Kaprun Castle, 4 DJs on 2 floors invited partygoers to do most of all 1 thing: Party like kings!
The first day of the Volvo X OVER RIDE weekend was clearly dominated by the colours black, red and gold. In the Halfpipe Contest Dominic Hasibeder and Eric Schwabl managed to rank 2 and 3; the gold medal among the snowboarders also went to a German. Patrick Cinca convinced in the Pipe and won the competition ahead of Wolle Beer from Austria (2nd place) and Aleksi Partanen from Finland (3rd place).
In slopestyle snowboarder from the Czech Republic followed suit: By pulling tricks such as a Double Cork out of the bag, he won first place. Among the freeskiers, Mike Mitterer (AUT) and Jakob Wimberger (AUT) made place 2 and 3, while Aleksi Partanen (FIN) and Max Pölzl (AUT) ranked among the snowboarders.
Girl power could also be admired at the Slopestyle Contest: Freeskier Anna Szymanowska (POL) and snowboarder Amber Schücker (AUS) made first place respectively in the womens’ ranking.
